Hai una storia nel cassetto? Qualcuna o qualcuno ti ha tramandato un’esperienza che vuoi discutere e condividere? Hai un ricordo, una vicenda, una storia di vita, di migrazione o di lavoro che vuoi raccontare? Hai soltanto un’idea di storia nel cassetto, ma non sai come svilupparla?
Se senti che è il momento di condividere la tua storia, di raccontare la storia di una donna che hai amato, incontrato o della quale hai conosciuto l’esperienza, se hai scritto qualcosa in passato che vorresti ripubblicare o far conoscere ad altre donne della tua comunità, o se custodisci una storia pronta a uscire dal cassetto, questa giornata è dedicata a te.
La NIAWA – National Italian-Australian Women’s Association organizza una giornata di scrittura, lettura e condivisione dedicata alle grandi e piccole storie che fanno la nostra storia collettiva. Questo workshop è il primo passo di un nuovo concorso letterario della NIAWA dedicato alle storie di vita delle donne-italo australiane e che verrà lanciato nel 2026.

In un ambiente collaborativo e strutturato ti inviteremo a parlare della storia che vuoi proporre e ti accompagneremo nel portarla alla luce e nel condividerla insieme ad altre donne della comunità.
La partecipazione prevede una piccola quota di 20 AUD, per coprire l’uso della sala e un light refreshment.
Tutte le partecipanti sono invitate a portare una storia, un’idea iniziale, una bozza, una scaletta o un’esperienza da cui partire.
Sono benvenute anche storie già pubblicate.

Workhop: Your Story, Our History
Women’s life writing as collective history
Do you have a story tucked away in a drawer? Has someone passed down experiences that you now feel the need to share? Do you have a memory, an episode, a life story, a migration or work experience, you would like to share? Do you have just the idea for a story, but aren’t sure how to develop it?
If you feel that this is the moment to share your story, to tell the story of a woman you have loved, met, or whose journey you have witnessed, if you have written something in the past that you would like to republish or share with other women in your community, or if you hold a story ready to come out of the drawer, this day is for you.
NIAWA – National Italian-Australian Women’s Association invites you to a day of writing, reading, and sharing dedicated to the big and small stories that make up our collective history. This is the first step toward the launch of a new NIAWA literary contest dedicated to life-writing by Italian-Australian women.

In a structured and collaborative setting, you will be invited to talk about the story you wish to share, and we will help you bring it to light and share it with other women in the community.
A small contribution of 20 AUD helps cover the use of the room and a light refreshment.
All participants are invited to bring a story, an initial idea, a draft, an outline, or a lived experience to work from.
Participants who wish to share a previously published story are also welcome.

All materials will remain confidential and will be used solely for workshop planning purposes.
